Aspects of Light

Introducing Aspects of Light, a collection of eight handwoven shades that continues CONRAD’s tradition of transcending functionality to enrich interior spaces and invite one’s gaze. Designed to filter natural light with artistry, each shade transforms windows into dyMatineec frames, revealing the subtle passage of time and sun—the quickening of morning light, the soft hues of dusk and the quiet shifts of season. Using a range of methods and materials to create a nuanced interplay of texture, light and shadow, these new shades bring a refined harmony to today’s interiors.

FIRST LIGHT, Weave No. 2333
Inspired by the light of early morning, tinted with mist and low-lying fog, our First Light shade is made by hand-painting warp threads with a soft wash of color.

LAST LIGHT, Weave No. 2335
Our Last Light shade evokes the shifting of light as evening approaches, an effect created by artisans using a traditional technique of painting on warp threads.

NECTAR, Weave No. 2337
Illumined by a hint of silvery luster, our light-catching Nectar shade pairs silk and arrowroot fibers in a gossamer weave detailed with slubs and tiny knots.

AFTERGLOW, Weave No. 2339
Casting a soft, warm glow in modern spaces, our highly tactile Afterglow weave pairs fine silk threads with bands of handspun cotton in tones of sunlit beige.

VESPERS, Weave No. 2341
Drawing from a technique of weaving strips of cloth as a weft, our Vespers shade lends dramatic effect with bold strokes of black that act as a counterpoint to clean forms and quiet neutrals.

APRÈS-MIDI, Weave No. 2343
A modern expression of weaving artistry, our elegant shade offers a mix of cream, grey and charcoal tones that complement today’s neutral color palettes.

MATINÉE, Weave No. 2345
Illumined by natural light, this soft, touchable weave reveals a curvilinear warp pattern on a ground of ramie fibers in a creamy ivory hue.

PLEIN AIR, Weave No. 2347-QS
Robust yet elegant, our Plein Air shade accents structure and texture by combining loosely woven strands of wood pulp fiber with filaments of jute in a chestnut brown.
